Existing or Living?
Existing or Living? explores the confinement that the COVID-19 Pandemic, and to a broader extent, society, has placed on us. Part of the University at Buffalo’s The Center in Motion, I was the Lighting Designer for this section.

Design Concept
The lighting design for this piece served to reinforce the closed-in reality we have all experienced during the pandemic, before transitioning into something new as we moved to put it, and society’s grasp, behind us.
To reflect this, the lighting begins in a cool and isolating measure, before moving to a warmer, more expressive environment.
The research images that inspired me when making the looks emphasizes both a cool detachment from the surroundings, used in the beginning, and a warm vibrancy that suggests more to come in the second half of the piece.
