Telenauts

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

The Team

Choreographer: Phil Wackerfuss
Lighting Designer: Timothy Swenson
Projection Design: Molly Crandall
Editor: Phil Wackerfuss

The choreographer wanted a ‘Tron-Like’ feel to the piece, so my reaseach fell heavily into synth-wave/cyberpunk influences.

Design Concepts

A recurring motif within the choreography of Telenauts was the interaction of the dancers and the scenic elements of the show- namely, the large X-shaped vinyl covered steel frame that divided the space into a series of ‘pie wedges’. Throughout the piece, the dancers would frequently swap positions, or interact with each other (and themselves, projected onto the vinyl with a slight time-delay).

As such, the I designed the lights to work within that world, each section getting a series of specials focused so that the ‘world’ around the dancer would highlight them, drawing the audience’s attention to where the solos/duets were taking place.
